EGYPT. Alexandria. Severus Alexander, as Caesar, 221-222. Tetradrachm (Billon, 24.5 mm, 12.03 g, 12 h), year 5 of Elagabalus = 221-222. MAP AYP ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟC KAICAP Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander to right. Rev. L E Jugate busts of Roma, helmeted, draped and cuirassed, and Alexandria, turreted and draped, to right. Dattari (Savio) -. Geissen -. K&G -. RPC VI Online temp. 10224. The second known example and the only specimen available to the collector as the other is in the collection of the Numismatic Museum in Athens, Greece (inv. no. 636/1077). Dark brown patina. Pit on obverse edge, several short scratches and marks in obverse field, otherwise, good very fine.
