From the Collection of Jonathan H. Kagan, ex Triton IX, 10 January 2006, 948.

The earliest coins are famous for their enigmatic designs. Are they just irregular patterns used prevent forgery before the introduction of real figural types, or do they actually mean something, albeit in some stylised way? For example, if we wanted to be fanciful could what we see here be intended to be some sort of radiate standard, or even a harbour??
