NORTHWEST GAUL, Armorica. Coriosolites. Circa 100-50 BC. Stater (Billon, 23 mm, 6.54 g, 10 h), 'au nez Orné' type. Celticized male head to right, hair ending in curls; before, volute. Rev. Devolved charioteer, driving a cart drawn by a centaur to right; below, V-form lyre symbol with four knobbed lines radiating from ringed-pellet. DT 2334 var. LT -. Very rare variant with hollow volute on the cheek; only one other specimen known to us (Rennes Museum nr. 782, ex Roz-Landrieux hoard). Areas of weak striking, otherwise, good very fine.
