KINGS OF MACEDON. Pausanias, 395/4-393 BC. (Bronze, 15 mm, 3.52 g, 1 h), Aigai. Head of Apollo to right, wearing tainia. Rev. ΠAY-ΣΑΝ Forepart of lion to right. HGC 3.1, 827. Westermark, Remarks 2. Rare, and with a dark green patina. Reverse slightly rough, otherwise, good fine.

The head of Apollo is particularly close in style to the contemporary hemiobols of the Chalcidian League. It is possible that the same engravers worked in both mints as well as in other minor mints of the area, such as Mende, Skione etc.
