KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27mm, 17.19 g 6), Babylon, c. 325-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated to left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, bee; below throne, monogram; in exergue, Μ. Price 3621. Beautifully centered, struck on a broad flan and with a wonderful head of Herakles. Minor flan fault above Herakles’ head, otherwise, good extremely fine.
