KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 17.5 mm, 8.60 g, 5 h), Pella, circa 345-340 or 342-336. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Charioteer driving chariot drawn by two rearing horses to right, holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right; below horses, kantharos. Le Rider Pella II B, 141-143 var (D-/R104 an unrecorded obverse die, but very close to D71). SNG ANS 141 (this reverse die). Of very refined Classical style. Traces of mounting on the edge, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From a private collection in Zug, Switzerland, acquired in the 1990s.
