LUCANIA. Metapontum. Punic occupation, circa 215-207 BC. Half Shekel (Silver, 18 mm, 4.08 g, 10 h), Punic standard. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Grain ear with leaf to right. HN Italy 1632. Robinson NC 1964, The Coinages of the Second Punic War, p. 50, 1 and pl. VI, 4. SNG ANS 549. SNG Lockett 437. Well-struck, clear, attractively toned, and rare without the owl on the reverse. Some die marks and with a flan crack, otherwise, good extremely fine.
