KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 14 mm, 8.63 g, 11 h), struck under Philip III, Lampsakos, circa 323-316. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Charioteer, driving chariot drawn by two horses trotting to right, holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right; below horses, serpent to right above monogram of AΠ. Cf. Le Rider p. 283. SNG ANS 285. Thompson 125. Nicely centered and bold. Some minor die rust, otherwise, extremely fine.
