MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 470 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.95 g). Lion to right, attacking bull, collapsing to left with head raised to right; above, Θ to the right of the bull's horn; below bull, base of pellets between plain lines; in exergue, floral ornament. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with granulated surfaces. Cf. Desneux 70. Tselekas Period C, Class VII, Group 19. Sharply struck and attractive. Small test cut on the reverse with corresponding flatness on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
