KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15.5 mm, 4.33 g, 7 h), Sardes, circa 330/25-324/3. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on a backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; below eagle, kantharos. Price 2542. Lightly toned, sharp and of fine style. Extremely fine.
