KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 4.35 g, 10 h), Magnesia, 319-305. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on a backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; below eagle, dolphin swimming upwards; below throne, monogram of AT; to outer right, filleted thyrsos. Price 1950. Rare. Bright and attractive. Virtually as struck.
