Holy Roman Empire. Charles VI. 1711-1740. Medal (Silver, 44mm, 30.06 g 12), on the capture of Temesvar (modern Timişoara in Romania) from the Turks by Prince Eugene in 1716, by G. W. Vestner, Nuremberg, 1716. CAROLVS.VI.D.G.ROM.IMP.SEMP.AVG. Laureate and draped bust of Charles VI to right; below bust, V. Rev. TRANSSYLVANIA METV AC INSIDIIS LIBERATA. / THEMESVVARIO OCCVP. / D.12.OCT.1716. Plan of the town and fortress of Temesvar, with cannon balls falling within the defences; in the inscription, date in the form of a chronogram. Bernheimer 83. EiN 217. Julius 1262. Montenuovo 1475. Rare. A lovely toned piece of great elegance. Virtually as struck.


G. W. Vestner (1677-1740) was a medallist who worked at Nuremberg from 1705 until his death. He was in the same circle as Müller and Hautsch and was almost as prolific.
