Medal (Silver, 35mm, 16.12 g 12), on Maurice’s capture of Grave from the Spanish, by G. van Bylaer, 1602. MAVRITIVS.PR.AVR.CO.NASS.CAT.MARC.VER.ET.VLIS Armored bust of Maurice to right, wearing ruff and cloak; below bust, G.V.B.F (=Gautier van Bylaer fecit); on neck truncation, ÆT.34. Rev. TANDEM.FIT.SVRCVLVS.ARBOR /ANNO 1602 (=the shoot finally becomes a tree) Orange tree growing from the cut down stump of another; all within a laurel wreath. Eimer 75. MI I, p. 181, 182. Van Loon I, pp. 553-554, 3. Nicely toned and attractive, with a bust in high relief. Minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
